VIZ Media has been established in Europe with the goal of expanding the market for Japanese manga, and making manga
culture accessible to the growing numbers of ardent fans and new enthusiasts.
Manga is at the heart of Japanese entertainment. Not only is it a phenomenally popular medium in its own right, but it
also serves as the foundation for Japanese TV animation, which has also gained worldwide success. Many TV series' popularity
can be traced back to the original manga, where concepts and stories are developed and fleshed out. VIZ Media is committed
to bringing the best manga to the European market.
VIZ Media works with manga publishers to bring an amazing variety of manga titles to the markets of Europe, ranging from
series geared toward younger audiences (Shonen (boys) and Shojo (girls) manga) to more mature titles, all of which were
originally serialized or published in magazines and graphic novels from two of Japan's largest publishers, Shueisha and
Shogakukan. Among the titles that will be featured this year:
Bleach
Ichigo Kurosaki never asked for the ability to see ghosts--he was
born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow--a malevolent
lost soul--Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting
the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace.
Death Note
Light Yagami is an ace student, and he's bored out of his mind. But all that
changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami
death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and Light
vows to use this power to rid the world of evil. But when legendary detective
L is assigned to track him down, will Light lose sight of his noble goal–or
his life?
Nana
They may share the same first name, but Nana Komatsu and Nana Oaski couldn't
be more different. Both have just moved to Tokyo, but while the naive Nana
K. is hoping to find true love in the big city, Nana O. is a swaggering punk
rocker with just one dream: become Japan's No. 1 superstar. In a world exploding
with romance, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties, see how two very
different women become best friends.
Shinshi Domei Cross
The Imperial Academy is home to the children of the very rich--and anything but a paradise for students like Otomiya Haine,
who doesn't have the money or fancy connections. But what she does have is a crush on the student council president Tougu Shizumasa.
Will love triumph over class boundaries?
Kekkaishi
By night, junior high student Yoshimori Sumimura is a "kekkaishi"--a
demon-hunter who specializes in creating magical barriers around his prey. By
day, Yoshimori's got some other demons to battle: an addiction to sweets and
a seriously crotchety grandfather! Yoshimori's pretty 16-year-old neighbor and
childhood friend, Tokine Yukimura, is also a kekkaishi, but their families are
feuding over who is the true practitioner of the art. Will homemade cakes and
the powers of good triumph over the sinister plans of demons?
Kirarin Revolution
Junior high student Kirari Tsukishima is beautiful, but she has one weakness: overeating. When Kirari meets Hiwatari Seiji, the
star of popular idol group, SHIPS, it's love at first sight, and she decides to win him over--by becoming a teen idol herself!
Looks like she'll need a little magical help to reach her goal!
Major
Baseball runs in the Honda family's blood--Shigeharu is already in the major leagues and gaining a reputation as a fearsome hitter,
and his son Goro is making a name for himself as a Little League pitcher. But when Goro's teacher Momoko catches the eye of the widowed
Shigeharu, the stage is set for a moving story of dreams, tragedy, and triumph.
MÄR
Fourteen-year-old Ginta Toramizu doesn't have a lot going for him--he's nearsighted, doesn't do well in school, can't play sports,
and he's short! But when a supernatural figure whisks Ginta away to a mysterious and exciting world, he's drawn into an epic adventure
in which he must seek the magical items known as ÄRMS, one of which may have the power to send him home.
